Wood Surf Co. X Joel Fitzgerald  -  dreamkeel

The ‘Dreamkeel’ is based of Joel's Dreamcatcher Fish surfboard, designed to ride in large or small surf depending on your experience level. It will carry you across flat sections and give you agility and speed for turns and barrels. The Dreamkeel is made as a swallow tail with twin futures boxes or a "glass on" (in our case rebated) keel fin set-up.

Riding Paipos is the oldest form of surfing from Hawaii & the Polynesian islands. The boards design (like the Alaia) comes from the ancient Hawaiians (Paipo meaning short or small board). In Hawaii people learnt the art of riding prone on these short wooden boards before they attempted to stand up on the longer ìalaiaî boards.

If you're looking for speed and barrel time, The paipo naturally places itself in the pocket and accelerates like a dream meaning you can get barrelled twice as much.

Traditional Hawian Alaia

This board is a thin, round-nosed, square-tailed surfboard ridden in pre-20th century Hawaii. They are distinct from modern surfboards in that they have no fins and instead rely on the sharpness of the edges and contours to hold the board in the face of the wave. They are super fast and an amazingly fun way to connect with surfings ancient custodians.

The alaias roots span back a thousand years. "Lala" is the Hawaiian word describing the action of riding an alaia surfboard in a controlled slide in the curl of the wave.
